GOODLUCK JONATHAN IS LIKE JESUS CHRIST, Says Doyin Okupe

As campaign towards 2015 elections takes a stronger dimension, a Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe woos the Christian faithful, and perhaps, other believers in the vicarious works of Christ. Further explains what he mean, before people react to the fact or falsity of his statement, that  "People do not understand the burden this president is bearing. He’s like Jesus Christ. He’s bearing the burden of everybody."

PRESIDENT JONATHAN'S ACCEPTANCE SPEECH TO PDP DELEGATES

The Lucky Man called Jonathan, the President of Nigeria, has recorded a lot of firsts in the history of Nigeria. Again, he made it at the PDP Presidential primaries where the party presented a single candidate at the convention. President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was yesterday presented as the sole candidate to bear the party's flag for the 2015 Presidential election. It was more like a ratification. In fact, a PDP spokesman called it a "Coronation." Though many Nigerians and some party members still find fault in this action, which obviously did not give others the opportunity to vie for the ticket, it appears the party is resolute on presenting a sole candidate at the convention. So we can say goodluck to Goodluck.

Here is his Acceptance Speech after endorsement at the Eagle Square by various state delegates and party members:
"Protocols:
1. Mr Chairman, our dear delegates, today is another great day in the history of our great Party; The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and indeed in the history of our great Nation.

2. Nothing gives me greater joy, as leader of our party, than such an opportunity as presented today, for direct interaction with so many enthusiastic and dedicated fellow party members, and may I add, all proudly dressed in our party colours and regalia.

3. It is also my pleasure to be here as a delegate today and I welcome wholeheartedly all our delegates, party members and all Nigerians, from across the country and beyond; including those joining us by television and online, as we gather here in the Eagle Square, to reaffirm the noble democratic traditions and foundations, that bind us together.

4. I thank the Party and the Organizing Committee for a successful convention. I thank all the delegates for a smooth nomination process.

5. Let me congratulate, the Chairman of our great Party, the game changer, Alhaji Ahmed Adamu Muazu. I have no doubt that the democratic process we have witnessed here today, and his confirmation as Party chairman, are both pointers to the consolidation of democracy in our country as a whole.

6. There is no doubt that his commitment to the ideals of our party, his consistency and hard work, has helped to reposition the party. And today we are stronger, bigger, and more in tune with the yearnings of our people. Let me also congratulate Professor Wale Oladipo and Alhaji Adewale Adeyanju whose appointments as National Secretary and National Auditor, respectively, have been ratified at this Convention.

7. Nigeria is undergoing great changes at this time, and also experiencing great challenges; so, political parties must rise above the fray, to provide hope and clear direction, to propel the development of our country.

8. As expected in every contest, especially political contests, the journey to this convention has not been without issues in some constituencies. Indeed, Party Congresses from the ward to state levels, and the legislative and state primaries, have produced both triumphs and some misgivings.

9. Without prejudice to various on-going resolution mechanisms, we will take steps, after the elections to review and refine the candidate selection procedures within our party. An appropriate committee will be set up to work on this, with contributions across board.

10. I commend the efforts of the supervising and appeal committee members, who travelled across the country to conduct and oversee the primaries and congresses. I appreciate also the dedication of the various working committees and special committees engaged in organising and delivering all aspects of the election season programmes.

11. Fellow delegates, dear party members, while we congratulate our candidates who have emerged at the primaries, we must reassure all our members, that our party remains a large, accommodating and responsible party.

12. We will make sure that conflicts are amicably resolved and that the genuine interest of every member is respected and assured.

13. As party members, we must be conscious of the responsibility we hold to our Nation. The political party is the vehicle for national organisation, and the PDP is the foremost political party in Nigeria.

14. For the sake of the entire nation, we must, at this time, more than ever, stand together as one united party. We are all joint stake holders, this party belongs to all of us.

15. What we have achieved today should be a lesson to all who care about Nigeria. What we have done exemplifies our unity. What we have done exemplifies our determination. What we have done exemplifies our purpose.

16. We are a Party that accepts challenges. We are a Party that confronts those challenges. But above all, we are a Party that resolves challenges. And it is exactly these qualities that will lead us to victory.

17. Distinguished Delegates, ladies and gentlemen, I stand before you as your humble servant, to accept your nomination as the Presidential candidate of our great Party, the PDP.

18. Having placed great faith in me and chosen me as your candidate, I assure you, that I am truly honoured tonight, to lead another electoral contest.

19. This will be a campaign, and an election, that will serve to consolidate our successes.

20. I will give my all.

21. I will not let you down.

22. I will not fail the PDP.

23. I will not fail you.

24. Above all, I promise, I will not fail our great nation, Nigeria.

25. This convention shows that we are ready.

26. The PDP is ready.

27. Nigerians know we are ready.

28. And today in Abuja, we begin the next phase of our mission.

29. Our mission is to secure Nigeria’s future.

30. First of all, let me give gratitude to God Almighty who has sustained the nation.

31. There is much to say, but permit me some special words of gratitude. These last four years have not always been easy, but through it all, my wife has effortlessly taken care of our home. So to you, my companion and my foremost supporter, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

32. I also want to thank, the Vice President, my brother, Arch Namadi Sambo, and his dear wife. You have both provided loyal support and commitment to this presidency; working with you for our people, has been a pleasure.

33. The work and progress recorded these past four years has been possible because we have had the best team possible. The Ministers, Advisers, Assistants and staff that have formed the Transformation team, have shown great dedication, creativity and loyalty.

34. They have put in extra hours when necessary, and always gone the extra mile to ensure delivery. Today, I thank them fervently for their patriotism and hard work.

35. Our Party, the PDP, has been the foundation of our Transformation Agenda. I thank the Chairman and Party Executive at all levels, the Board of Trustees and National Working Committee, the PDP Governors Forum, Federal and state legislators, Secretariat Staff and volunteers, across the country. You have played your part well, and I am indeed very grateful.

36. It is not a mere coincidence that our National Convention this year starts on the same day as the United Nations World Human Rights Day. This government, led by our Party, has made the respect of human rights and individual freedoms, the cornerstone of our administration.

37. I did say during my declaration on November 11, 2014, that we are proud that no Nigerian has been exiled or imprisoned on our watch, for holding contrary views. We must ensure that we continue to water the tree bearing the fruits of freedom, for our beloved people.

38. In the last 16 years, the PDP has kept faith with the Nigerian people by promoting and projecting a united nation, under God. We have united our people around common national goals for the good of our citizens and the development of our nation.

39. Through its years of office, our great Party, the PDP created the Anti-corruption agencies, that is, the EFCC and the ICPC, the Excess Crude Account, the Pension Reforms, Fiscal Responsibility Regime, the Sovereign Wealth Fund and various privatization programmes.

40. We initiated Debt Relief, the Amnesty Programme, the Presidential Jobs Creation Board, Power Sector Reforms and the National Infrastructure Master-plan; the Nigerian Industrial Revolution Plan, the National Automobile Policy, the Freedom of Information regime, the Nigerian Mortgage Refinancing Company, and the Infrastructure Bank, amongst others.

41. At the advent of democracy in 1999, Nigeria’s GDP was 35.9 billion US dollars. Today, it is 510 billion US dollars - and we have become Africa’s biggest economy. In 1999, our debt to GDP Ratio was 93.1%. Today, it is 13.6 % of which external debt to GDP ratio is 1.89%.

42. As at 1999, only 400,000 telephone lines were active in our country. Today, we have about 120 million lines, which have created many more jobs for our youths.

43. This administration is also working to revitalize our insurance industry. Compared to other emerging economies, our insurance industry has not achieved its full potential. Today, only 3 million of our citizens are insurance policy holders, and overall insurance penetration is less than 0.5 percent of our GDP. We want to transform this sector, just as we have done for our banking sector and our pensions industry.

44. Our goal is to grow the total insurance premiums in our country from 300 billion naira currently to 1 trillion naira in the next three years. And to increase the number of direct jobs created in this sector from about 30,000 people today to over 100,000 people in the next few years.

45. My brothers and sisters, the PDP as a party has delivered on its promise. In the last decade, it has seen to the largest expansion of the middle class in Africa. Certainly, our Party has a rich history of enduring legacies.

46. For those who defected from the PDP, I enjoin you to tell the truth in your campaigns. Many of the developments in your States were initiated by the PDP. So be honest with the voters and give credit where it is due.

47. In adopting the umbrella as our symbol, we have become the umbrella of the nation. Our politics has not been defined by our differences, but in forging the bond of oneness.

48. After our victory at the polls in 2011, we articulated a TRANSFORMATION AGENDA, which we have faithfully implemented. The agenda has created the framework of our desire to promote and deepen access to economic and social benefits, through equal opportunities.

49. The Transformation Agenda is helping to secure Nigeria’s future. Thanks to this Agenda we have remained focused, calculated and measured in our decision-making. We have focused on sustainable gains, rather than quick fixes. We have remained committed to our national maxim of Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress.

50. Today, it is to our collective credit as a nation, that in spite of our challenges, our unity remains solid. All across our nation, the positive gains of the Transformation Agenda are being progressively enjoyed by our people.

51. During this campaign, some office seekers will say it is “time for change”, but while they were changing from one name to another and from one party to the other, we had already brought change to Nigeria.

52. My dear delegates,

53. Has change not come to our railway system?

54. Has change not come to our airports?

55. Has change not come to our roads network?

56. Has change not come to our agricultural sector?

57. Has change not come to our electoral process?

58. Has change not come to Almajiri education?

59. Is change not coming to the power sector?

60. Distinguished delegates, ladies and gentlemen, what we need today is to consolidate on our gains in order to secure our future.

61. Our focus now must be on the future and not on the past. We have challenges but we are determined to overcome them. And this we will.

62. These last four years, my priority has been in building a strong and stable economy. We have created the enabling environment for businesses to thrive. These are essentials for securing Nigeria's future.

63. Back in 2008 and 2009, the country faced strong economic challenges arising from unstable oil prices, but we confronted it consciously and overcame. As the economic challenges of oil price-fall, looms in the months ahead, Nigeria needs tested hands that will provide certainty, in an uncertain world. We have a strong and capable economic team, which has already worked out strategies to manage the oil price volatility and curtail its effects.

64. Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, our fight against corruption is on course. Our systematic efforts have been acknowledged and we will do more in the coming years. Corruption degrades development; we will continue this fight, without compromise.

65. In the past four years we have run our administration with respect for the principle of separation of powers between the different arms of government. The judiciary and the legislature have independently and introspectively pursued their own reforms and greater self-expression.

66. With a fresh mandate, we shall push for increased intra-party and bi-partisan harmony, within the legislature, and between the executive and the legislature. The duty of national development must never be hindered by the over-politicization of interests; this is what we owe our people, and our nation.

67. Dear party faithful, beyond security and corruption, there exist environmental challenges, such as desertification, which is threatening the lives of our people, especially in the frontline states of Adamawa, Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto, Yobe and Zamfara. We have responded most appropriately by implementing theGreat Green Wall Programme for which we have released over 16 billion Naira.

68. Our determination to provide a buffer of greenery that will stop the advancement of the desert and reverse the many losses of farmlands and grazing grounds, streams and aquatic life, among others, remains strong. Similar programmes are being implemented to save communities from erosion in the West, East, and the South-South parts of the country.

69. On my watch, the security of all citizens shall continue to be of utmost priority. With the exception of the civil war, never before in the history of our country have we faced the level of threat we see today. I assure all Nigerians that this Government will continue to do whatever is required to provide the security we deserve. It is encouraging that the security situation is improving, and by the grace of God, elections will be conducted in all states of the federation.

70. I call on all Nigerians, irrespective of party or belief, to join me in this fight against insurgency and terror. We must be united. Bickering and quarrels only serve to send the wrong signals to terrorists and insurgents, that we are divided in this fight. More importantly it can also demoralise our dedicated and brave armed forces. This would be wrong. For this reason, we must remain united.

71. I believe that together as a people and with God on our side, we shall defeat terror and emerge an even stronger nation.

72. The experience in many countries shows that there may be a tendency for the escalation of violence in an election year. We must not succumb to blackmail. We must be vigilant – every one of us. Only by united action, can we defeat terrorism.

73. I salute our gallant armed forces and security agencies who are doing their best to keep our people safe. We shall continue to ensure that they have the best in terms of equipment, training and conditions. I appeal to our countrymen and women to provide them with the fullest support, and not to fall victim to those who fan the embers of terror.

74. As a political party, we must rededicate ourselves to the work of securing our future. We are the party of the people, and not just the elite. We must lift the poor out of the depth of want, onto the ladder of prosperity. We will work to ensure that no child suffers from basic needs. We must create equal opportunities for women and the physically challenged. We must give a voice to all Nigerians.

75. And we can do all this! Nigeria is not a land of despair. We are a people who show commitment and unity of purpose. Just look at how we stood up to the Ebola Virus Disease. We are a hard-working nation. And we will go from strength to strength.

76. Our best days are before us, not behind us. We must continue to move forward.

77. In accepting your nomination as flag bearer for the Presidential Election, I once more accept the challenge to serve our party and nation. I will continue the work we have begun with the Transformation Agenda.

78. I will work to secure Nigeria’s future. I will serve with humility and moderation, with simplicity and forthrightness; with openness and inclusiveness, and with firmness and strength. I urge all Nigerians to support me, to finish what we started together.

79. Fellow citizens, what we need, more than anything else, is to secure our country’s future, by building, and not by destroying.

80. We can continue to build upon the foundations we have laid so far, we can continue with our economic progress, we can continue improving our infrastructure, we can continue delivering better health care, we can continue to improve our agriculture and we can continue to safeguard individual liberties and freedoms.

81. The choice before Nigerians in the coming election is simple: A choice between going forward or going backwards; between the new ways and the old ways; between freedom and repression; between a record of visible achievements and beneficial reforms - and desperate power-seekers with empty promises.

82. Fellow Delegates, dear Party members, so much is at stake. Let me remind everyone – party leaders, mobilizers, members, men, women and youth – that the hard work has only just started.

83. As your Presidential candidate and Party leader, I hereby commission all delegates and party faithful, as my campaign mobilizers, to take our message of unity and development back to your respective states and communities, and to ensure victory for all candidates of the PDP in the forthcoming elections. Working Together, we will do it!

84. Our political opponents shall assail us with the fury of their desperation to win power. They will use every means – intimidation, false accusations, hostile media and more. Do not descend to their level. We must stay focused on the mission at hand – to secure Nigeria’s future.

85. Let me emphasise again, that nobody’s political ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian. We must eschew violence, even in the face of the most outrageous acts of desperation.

86. We must make sure our supporters have their voter’s cards. We must get them motivated and eager to make their mark. It will be a mark for our children. It will be a mark for a stronger economy. A mark that will secure Nigeria’s future.

87. So my dear Party Men and Women, let us take this campaign to every Nigerian, every home and every community.

88. We will campaign in peace.

89. We will campaign with hope in our hearts.

90. We will campaign on the facts and the truth.

91. We will campaign with issues and ideas.

92. We will campaign on our record of performance.

93. We will campaign to win.

94. Mr. Chairman, Distinguished delegates,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

95. Let me at this point invite to join me on this podium, the Chairman of our great party, Alhaji Ahmed Adamu Muazu; the Chairman of our Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih; the Senate President, Senator David Mark and his wife; my dear brother, the Vice President, Architect Namadi Sambo and his wife, and particularly, my dear wife, the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.

96. I seize the opportunity of this occasion to formally announce that as we commence the campaign for the 2015 Presidential elections, Architect Mohammed Namadi Sambo, a loyal and tested partner, a dependable, trustworthy gentleman and a true patriot will be my running mate and Vice Presidential candidate once again.

97. With your continued support and the blessing of God Almighty, Vice President Sambo and I will campaign together to win another resounding victory for our great party in the coming elections.

98. God bless you all.

99. God bless our great Party, the PDP

100. God bless Nigeria

101. I thank you all.

WHAT OBASANJO WARNS ABOUT ATIKU TO APC

Defying Kashamu and his court injunction, former President, Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo released his book, "My Watch." It is an autobiography in which he opened up and individuals and some national issues. The book is more like his memo.

As APC decides on its Presidential flag bearer, here is what Obasanjo has to say about him, in a way warning the party of the man he knows very well. Excerpt:

The Atiku I Know is a Betrayer & Corrupt.
“By the Constitution, I had to inaugurate or prorogue the National Assembly on June 4, 1999. The most important officer in the National Assembly is the senate president and that office had been zoned to the South-east. And here was where Atiku Abubakar, my vice-president,first showed his hand and his character.
“Without seeking my view or approval, he started planning the installation of Chuba Okadigbo as the senate president. I did a background check on Chuba including his past as a student and made enquiries about him in the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) under (President Shehu) Shagari and no one would recommend him for the post of senate president.
“I left Atiku to go on his chase while I carried out a meticulous and detailed investigation and background check on each senator from the South-east. The one that appeared most appointable was Evan Enwerem. I canvassed the senate across the board for his election and he was elected. Atiku did not expect it and he felt sore.
“He began to strategise for Enwerem to be removed and Chuba Okadigbo to be installed. His strategy worked because I was at Abuja airport to receive a visiting head of state when the news reached me that the Senate had impeached Enwerem and elected Okadigbo. I was not perturbed. I came to understand from some senators including Florence Ita-Giwa, who later became my Special Adviser/ Liaison Officer to the National Assembly, that Atiku distributed US$5,000 each to some senators to carry out the ‘coup’.
“That was the beginning of bribing the legislature to carry out a particular line of action to suit or satisfy the purpose or desire of an individual or a group. The National Assembly had tasted blood and they would continue to want more. From the day I nominated Atiku to be my vice, he set his mind not for any good, benefit or service of the country, but on furiously planning to upstage, supplant or remove me at all cost and to take my place.
“That was what I brought him for, but he was impatient and over-ambitious.He was not ready to learn and to wait. His marabout, who predicted that despite being elected as governor, he would not be sworn in as a governor, which happened, also assured him that he would take over from me in a matter of months rather than years.
“All his plans, appointments of people and his actions were towards the actualisation of his marabout’s prediction. Once I realised his intention and programme, I watched him like a hawk without giving any indication of what I knew and letting down my guard. I could not succumb to the distraction, diversion and malevolence of an ambitious but unwise deputy.
“The work in hand was more important than a confrontationalrelationship with my deputy, a man over whom I knew I had far more experience and outreach in all matters. To alert him of what I knew he was up to, would only lead to lying, denial, more mischievous plans and more duplicity on his part.
“He was better managed that way. What was important was not allowing myself to be surprised or outmanoeuvred by him. I must always seize the initiative and know what was going on if not in his mind, but at least in his camp. That I did very effectively.
“Sometime in the fourth quarter of 2004, an associate of Atiku came to my residence at the Aso Villa from Atiku’s official residence. He felt uncomfortable and I tried to make him feel at ease. Then, he settled to tell me the story of what had just transpired in Atiku’s residence. I listened with rapt attention.
“He went on to say that Atiku told him that for him to become the President of Nigeria, the 2007 elections were only a formality.
“The seven ingredients he needed for his enthronement were already in his hands. He controlled the National Assembly because both the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representativeswere in his pocket. He controlled twenty-eight out of thirty-six governors. He had control of the media. His influence over the judiciary was overwhelming.
“What he needed was foreign endorsement and for that he had employed two lobby groups in the US and one in the UK. And finally, the money for the elections was in his purse.
“When the man finished, I thanked him without passing any comment. The man was surprised at my reaction and asked, ‘You have nothing to say to these?’ I said that I had nothing to say and I immediately called my ADC, Chris Jemitola, to play a game of squash with me.
“On our way to the squash court with my ADC, I said, ‘People at times make plans and leave God out of their plans.’ My casual remark struck Chris and he said, ‘Sir, that was a profound statement.’ I said that I made the statement because of what I had just heard of Atiku’s plan. I was not convinced he had put God in his plans.
“Atiku was confident and God was laughing. Most of Atiku’s ingredients soon started to fall out of place one by one. The first was the party, PDP.
“He thought I was powerless and had no clue about the execution of his plan with his group; part of his attack on me was for national chairman of the party to give the first salvo, then other things would follow as his grip on the party would be firm and consolidated.
“That salvo came in the form of a letter to me from the chairman of the party, Audu Ogbeh, who had fully defected with (Iyorchia) Ayu to Atiku.
“The letter, which was not the product of any issue or matter discussed with or at any party meeting, came suddenly. When I received it, I could read the sinister intention behind it.
“I spent that night writing my reply and I sent it in the morning. My reply was clear. I wondered why Atiku and his group did not realise that with my reply, the battle line was clear or maybe they thought that the seven ingredients would remain intact to the end.
“My assistants had moles within the Atiku group. Anything that they planned would be reported. That was the case after Ogbeh’s letter. They decided that Ogbeh should appear remorseful and come with the National Working Committee to apologise to me. It was not from their hearts, but to lure me to a ‘killing ground’.
“All pieces of information that were reported were verified because it would not come from only one informant.
“Timely information is a very important principle of war and also of politics. In politics, just as in war, what matters is not just your plan, but knowledge of your opponent’s plan. Knowing their plan, I had the choice of playing along with them or being firm, I chose the latter.
“I told Ogbeh that my relationship with him as national chairman and me as national leader of the party was based on mutual confidence and trust. But with his letter, my reply and what I knew of him then, I could no longer work with him in confidence and trust.
“There were only two choices left for both of us in our best interest and that of the party – he, leaves as chairman or I leave as leader of the party.
“The following Sunday, I called at his house, which I had done on several occasions in the past when there was an important party matter to discuss. This time, I asked him to give me an undated letter of resignation as the national chairman.
“I waited, he gave me but it was wrongly addressed to me rather than to the national secretary of the party as stipulated in the party’s constitution.
“Ogbeh reported to his group and it was decided by them to play on and to wait for my disgrace whenever I presented a letter of resignation not addressed to the national secretary.
“The informants did their job and I, once again, paid another visit to Ogbeh at his residence. He entertained me to a meal and drink, and changed the addressee on his letter of resignation.
“It would appear he never reported the change to his group. When I considered it opportune and appropriate, the letter was dated and presented to National Executive Committee of the party, which regrettably accepted the resignation.
“With that, whatever control Atiku claimed to have over the party began to crumble. But he did not think so and went on to boast that if I made my daughter the national chairman, it would be a matter of weeks not months before he would put her in his pocket.
“I therefore had to look for a successor chairman, who would be too big, uncompromising and inflexible to be lured and controlled by Atiku. I found such a man in Senator (Dr.) Amadu Ali, whom I had known many years earlier as a medical doctor in the army…”

More can be read in his book which has been ordered to be confiscated. If you find one, good for you.

STRIPPED NAKED FOR WEARING MINISKIRTS

It was an unfortunate day for this lady who dressed in mini-skirt and walked on the street in Kisii town in Kenya. She was embarrassed by some self righteous angry men and women who tore her dress and left her naked, only after some others had came to rescue her. Some African countries like Kenya, Uganda and others have passed bills forbidding ladies from wearing miniskirts and armless tops in the public. Though one would expect people to obey the laws of their land, but do you think the mobs did well to have naked her? Or do you think such law truly violates the women's right?

Let's have your opinion on this.

Curvey Miss-K

CRISTIANO RONALDO REMEMBERS NELSON MANDELA

As South Africans and people of the world remember the death of Madiba, Nelson Mandela who passed away about this time last year, Real Madrid star, Ronaldo is not left out. He pours out his heart as he shares the memory of his meeting the great South African hero. His words are quite touching:

"I had the pleasure and privilege to get to know Nelson Mandela in 2010. Madiba will always remain in my heart and his legacy is an inspiration for all. The Global Watch anti-racism summit in Johannesburg, is a Nelson Mandela legacy initiative for a non-racial, peaceful and prosperous world. The football community has to say it out loud: racism has no place in our game, in sports or in life."

Yes, Racism should have not place in our sports, films, music, and our entire live. The memory of Madiba will always been in our hearts.

BLACKS AND WHITES PROTEST GARNER JURY DECISION

Both blacks and whites gathered in their thousands, both in New york city and now across other places to protest the Garner decision. A  grand jury yesterday announced that the police officer involved in the death of 43-year-old Eric Garner, would not be indicted. According to a report, Garner, a black man , who died on July 17, was placed in what appeared to be a prohibited chokehold by NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo before he was heard,on camera, repeatedly telling officers, "I can't breathe."
Nine days ago, a grand jury had also refused to indict Police officer Daren Wilson, a white cop, who shot and killed 12 year old Michael Brown.

So it's a case of two white cops killing two black people and going unpunished.

MUSLIMS, PIG MEAT AND CANADA

The Muslim community in Quebec in Canada had written to the Mayor of the city requesting the removal of Pork meat (pig meat) from Schools' menu, because the muslims do not eat pig meat. The request was turned down and the Mayor gave his reasons. This was how he put it:

"The Mayor of Dorval in Quebec, Canada responded to the Muslim community there when they requested that pork be removed from school lunch room menus. He refused to comply with the request and gave the following reply to the Muslim community:

The mayor of the Montreal suburb of Dorval ,has refused, and the town clerk sent a note to all parents to explain why...

“Muslims must understand that they have to adapt to Canada and Quebec , its customs, its traditions, its way of life, because that's where they chose to immigrate.

“They must understand that they have to integrate and learn to live in Quebec .

“They must understand that it is for them to change their lifestyle, not the Canadians who so generously welcomed them.

“They must understand that Canadians are neither racist nor xenophobic, they accepted many immigrants before Muslims (whereas the reverse is not true, in that Muslim states do not accept non-Muslim immigrants).

“That no more than other nations, Canadians are not willing to give up their identity, their culture.

“And if Canada is a land of welcome, it's not the Mayor of Dorval who welcomes foreigners, but the Canadian-Quebecois people as a whole.

“Finally, they must understand that in Canada ( Quebec ) with its Judeo-Christian roots, Christmas trees, churches and religious festivals, religion must remain in the private domain.

The municipality of Dorval was right to refuse any concessions to Islam and Sharia.

“For Muslims who disagree with secularism and do not feel comfortable in Canada , there are 57 beautiful Muslim countries in the world, most of them under-populated and ready to receive them with open halal arms in accordance with Shariah.

“If you left your country for Canada , and not for other Muslim countries, it is because you have considered that life is better in Canada than elsewhere.

“Ask yourself the question, just once, “Why is it better here in Canada than where you come from?”

Simple logic is speaking here. Or What do you think?

STOP CALLING PRESIDENT GOODLUCK AN IDIOT AND DRUNKARD

President Jonathan, the POPE and Dame Patience Jonathan
It is becoming a dangerous trend in the social media especially for critics to malign President Goodluck Jonathan. This has not gone unnoticed by the Presidency's media spokespersons who now warns that such attitude would no longer be tolerated. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has particularly warned that anyone, of any age, calling the President an "Idiot or Drunkard" will be corrected by means of force.

He says on his Twitter page that,  “Being a critic is no licence to insult and abuse government officials; most especially the President of the nation. Criticism is different.

Dr. Doyin Okupe - SA to GEJ
“But when you say the President is an idiot, a drunkard and so forth, you no longer deserve any respect. Yorubas say children that are not trained at home must be forcefully trained by outsiders. It is our cultural obligation".

He further reminded Nigerians that “President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is an anointed leader, an active, focused performer favoured by God and loved by the genuine silent Nigerian majority.”

OBJ and GEJ

Thus, Nigerians, especially the critics of the President, are advised to mind their words as they talk about the man and the office of the President. Criticism of GEJ must be done with respect for the person and office of the President. To do otherwise, according to Dr. Okupe shows lack of parental (home) training.
Thank you, Mr. Doyin Okupe.

NIGERIAN TO DIE SOON, FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

On the 25th of November 2014, 35 years old Mr. Abuchi Ngwoke, from Eastern Nigeria was sentenced to DEATH by the Malaysian Court for drug trafficking.

The report has it that in 2012, Abuchi swallowed 251.66 grams of Methamphetamine from Nigeria, but was caught at an Airport in Malaysia.

Malaysia is a hard drugs route and the government does not take the drug offence lightly. The standard punishment is usually death, except for some miracles, which the Malaysian government hardly believes in.

No date has been fixed for Abuchi's execution.

TWO GIRLS BOMBED MAIDUGURI MARKET, FEMALE BOMBERS ON THE INCREASE IN NIGERIA

Two teenage girls yesterday detonated bombs separately that have killed over 40 people in a busy market in Maiduguri, Borno State,  Northern Nigeria. The first suicide bomber had killed only three people, but as sympathizers gathered at the scene of the bomb blast, the second girl in full hijab, bomb tied behind her like a baby, found her way to the center of the crown and detonated her deadly explosive which killed scores.
Though no group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast, the Islamic fundalist terrorist group, Boko Haram, is being suspected.

Boko Haram has killed more than 1,500 people in the north-east which they now control in part. They use car bombing, explosive vests in people-concentrated areas. Now their recruits are younger people and even females.

It is now becoming a trend for female suicide bombers to be used in the latest attack of terror against innocent Nigerians living in the North-East. It is even suspected that some of the kidnapped Chibok girls are been hypnotized and used as female bombers. Not much investigation has been done in this regard but, if this is true, then we really have no hope  expecting the girls back, at least, not the whole of them. And of course, the terrorist group had allegedly told  Nigerians not to expect the girls back.
We do hope that the Nigerian military will intensify effort to rescue the girls, if truly, they are still in the custody of the militants.

A report by some villagers who escaped from Mubi and its environs, claim that the Islamists gave some men the option of swallowing a seed (called dabino, in Hausa) or be killed. Those who accepted were said to loose their senses and followed the terrorists, and carried out any instruction given. Those who refused were killed instantly, their headscut with a sawing machine used in felling trees.

LAWLESS LAWMAKERS JUMP FENCE, TEAR-GASSED BY THE POLICE

Lawmakers jumping the fence of the NASS Complex
A special session of the National Assembly was to hold today, Thursday the 20th 2014. The lawmakers had gone on recess  in order for them to attend to other committee issues and their various party activities and to resume in December. But for the letters from the President on the extension of the State Of Emergency in the three northern states beleaguered by Boko Haram insurgents, the special session was convened.

But as the lawmakers got to the entrance of the National Assembly, the were stopped by heavy police blockage. Even the Speaker of the House, Aminu Tambuwal was hindered from proceeding into the chamber. A rowdy session ensured, and our honourable lawmakers fought their way into the meeting place, with some scaling the fence. The police fired tear gas to disperse the lawmakers, but some found their in, most of whom were said to be APC members. The Speaker was somehow smuggled in from another entrance, after the police on ground had communicated with their superiors on the phone. As expected, the PDP lawmakers who were in walked out, leaving behind just a scanty number of them.

The APC lawmakers were shouting in anger, some saying, "Jonathan must go....Jonathan must be impeached."

It appears the PDP did not want Tambuwal to preside over the session with the lawmakers, based on their stand that his cross-carpeting to APC stripped him off the position of the honourable Speaker, while the APC insists Tambuwal is still the speaker, and has the right to convene and preside over the special session. The question now is, why the Police and the Tear-Gas on the honourable lawmakers And should the law makers have forced their way, by jumping the fence, into the complex just to have the session? Don't these all amount to lawlessness?

In the midst of the crisis, both the Upper and Lower house had to adjourn till next week Tuesday, so that, for the Upper house, the Service Chiefs could be summoned to give a true situation reports on the war against terrorism in the North-East.

Senator David Mark has to shut down the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, to call down the situation.

We hope to see what happens in the coming week.

AYO ORITSEJAFOR SPITS FIRE ON NIGERIAN MUSLIM LEADERS

The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Ayo Oritsejafor, who has severally been accused of being a "Christian Boko Haram", has taken some time to reply his critics. He also cleared the air on the fact that the Christians in Northern Nigeria are  not only been marginalized but also, suppressed by the various Muslim-dominated government and traditional rulers of the Northern region.

Excerpt:
"...Turkey, some time ago, was 100 per cent Christians. The Sultan of the Ottoman Empire that was a neighbour to Constantinople was a 19-year-old boy. And the Christians were warned of what was going to happen, they said it could not happen. They sent emissaries to him. He received them. They said ‘we told you, they are so nice’. When the boy turned 21, he invaded Constantinople. Guess who helped him? Christians. The cannon with which he blew down the walls were invented by a Bulgarian Christian that was even inside Constantinople. He invented this thing and approached the king of Constantinople for money in exchange for the weapon, the man said he didn’t have.

The inventor sneaked out of town with his invention, went to the Sultan and the Sultan gave him money and collected the equipment and helped to lead the troops to blow down the whole wall. In the meantime, Christians inside had been fighting each other, talking nonsense about nothing. When they saw the invaders approaching, they held hands to say they were praying. Which prayer? And they came in straight, and the first place they went to was the church. And the Sultan walked into the church shouting ‘Allah Akbar’; and made his way to the pulpit, made some rituals and turned it into a mosque. For the next 1,000 years, that building was used as a mosque. The man who started the modern day Turkey by introducing democracy, what he did was to stop the place from being used as a mosque but he didn’t return it to the church. Instead he turned it into a museum. So inside that museum, you will see Muslim things and you will see Christian things. Do you think if that place was originally a mosque and was changed to a church, and they came and stopped the church, you think they will not change it back to a mosque?

Arab colonisation

Look at what is happening in Jerusalem. When we talk like this, some people will attack me. Look at the Al-Aqsa Mosque; was there not something in that place before that mosque?         There was a Jewish temple there before that mosque. Why is it that the world never ask questions? If the original thing there was a mosque, and the Jews came and built a synagogue or a temple on top of it, you think it will stand? They would have blown it up by now. Everybody is talking about the mosque. What about what was built there before the mosque? Nobody is asking, nobody is talking.

We talk about western colonization; what about Arab colonization? We never talk about it. We pretend that it doesn’t exist or it didn’t happen. What happened to Egypt? Is it not the same thing that happened in Turkey? For over 1,000 years, Egypt was totally a Christian nation. The Arabs invaded. They came in. In the usual stupidity of Christians, they said it could not happen. They killed them like rats. And brought in a lot of Arabs within 50 years. Today, Egypt is known as an Arab country. Were the Pharaohs Arabs? Please let’s be realistic. They were real Africans, black people. Is that what you have there today?

What happened in Sudan? Why is it that Sudan split? You have Southern Sudan and Sudan. The whole of Sudan was pure black people. The same thing, they came in from Egypt and raided that place, took it over. Killed the men, dashed themselves the women, and brought in a lot of Arabs. Within 50 years or thereabouts, it became Arab Republic or Islam Republic or something. Today, everybody is seeing Sudan now as an Arab country. But was it really an Arab country? Is Sudan really an Arab country? Nobody asks questions.

I can push it further. Fulani herdsmen kill innocent natives across the nation, rape women and do several despicable things to people in the nation, but what do we hear ? Calls for compensation for them. People clamour for grazing land for them as if to say the nation should compensate them for killing innocent Nigerians. Nobody has asked the question as to where herdsmen get sophisticated weapons like AK47 from? Do you know that for the past 30 to 40... years, no church organisation has been issued a certificate of occupancy to build a church in the far North?

Go to the North of Nigeria and see the suffering of Christians. Are you aware that generally across the North, you cannot be a traditional ruler except you convert? Go to Gwoza. Gwoza is 80 per cent Christians, but they have an Emir of Gwoza. Does it make sense? That a place where 80 per cent of the people are Christians, you start an emirate, and there’s an emir who is a Muslim over 80 per cent Christians. Look at Mubi that was just taken over; there was an Emir of Mubi. In a place that is also over 80 per cent Christians. Can it be the other way round? Can you try it?

Can you go to Sokoto and say that from now it’s a Christian traditional ruler that will rule over a particular area? The only Christian in Bauchi State House of Assembly is a woman and she was thrown out. What did she do? The House woke up one day with the governor, and decided that a local government area headquarters that was located in a Christian area be relocated to a Muslim enclave. And they just did it like that. The woman got up and said no. They said she insulted the House. Her tenure is almost over, they took her security, took her car, no salary for almost three months. What has anybody done? All kinds of things have happened.

We have a Christian President and all these things are happening to Christians. People are complaining that the President is weak, he doesn’t act. What do you think?

Well, personally, I will say that people’s styles are different. All leaders will not operate the same way. So don’t rule out that possibility. Also, because personalities and style would be different, you also discover that there could be a leader who feels that because I’m a Christian, I should not do things that will make people think that I’m favouring Christians and would bend backwards to satisfy the Muslim side so that they will be happy. All I will tell you is that the man is...  is bending backwards to satisfy these our brothers. He is the President of both Christians and Muslims. But the funny thing is our Muslim brothers complain that he is not treating them well. You sit back and wonder, it’s puzzling
