Two teenage girls yesterday detonated bombs separately that have killed over 40 people in a busy market in Maiduguri, Borno State, Northern Nigeria. The first suicide bomber had killed only three people, but as sympathizers gathered at the scene of the bomb blast, the second girl in full hijab, bomb tied behind her like a baby, found her way to the center of the crown and detonated her deadly explosive which killed scores.
Though no group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast, the Islamic fundalist terrorist group, Boko Haram, is being suspected.
Boko Haram has killed more than 1,500 people in the north-east which they now control in part. They use car bombing, explosive vests in people-concentrated areas. Now their recruits are younger people and even females.
It is now becoming a trend for female suicide bombers to be used in the latest attack of terror against innocent Nigerians living in the North-East. It is even suspected that some of the kidnapped Chibok girls are been hypnotized and used as female bombers. Not much investigation has been done in this regard but, if this is true, then we really have no hope expecting the girls back, at least, not the whole of them. And of course, the terrorist group had allegedly told Nigerians not to expect the girls back.
We do hope that the Nigerian military will intensify effort to rescue the girls, if truly, they are still in the custody of the militants.

A report by some villagers who escaped from Mubi and its environs, claim that the Islamists gave some men the option of swallowing a seed (called dabino, in Hausa) or be killed. Those who accepted were said to loose their senses and followed the terrorists, and carried out any instruction given. Those who refused were killed instantly, their headscut with a sawing machine used in felling trees.
