Her death was confirmed by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja, where Mr Agility Onwurah, Chairman, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abuja Chapter, had said,
“Amaka had gone to Enugu in company of her husband for a pre-production preparation for a new Igbo soap when the sad incident occurred.

“She suffered asthmatic attack and was immediately rushed to a hospital, but died before getting there.
“Amaka is survived by her husband of 21 years, Charles Igwe, three children, and an aged mother.
An excerpt from her biography reads that she "...was also the driving force behind BOBTV an acronym for the Best of the Best African Film and Television Programmes market and CEO of Amaka Igwe Studios an outfit that is best known for dropping off quality television and video offerings, Amaka Igwe’s vision of providing a common access point for good and authentic movies and television programmes led to her conceptualizing and eventual staging BOBTV, an annual event that has clearly facilitated the buying and selling of audio-visual content, the brokerage of production deals as well as the facilitation of world class skill transfer and training for African producers".

Just a shocking news about your demise Amaka, you had really done great things in entertainment industry, and had touched lots life positively. May your sou; rest in perfect peace.

Gone too soon for sure Aunty Amaka, but your Legacy in the industry will never die, I have watched you and your work all this years. We pray that the women in the industry you have left behind will keep the light shinning and make you smile when you look down.
