The African Movie Academy Award has come and gone with all its fun and fanfare. It held from the 18th to 20th April 2013 in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State Capital in Nigeria. The sets of winners are getting more interesting as we see some countries winning for the first time. It could also be observed that nominations came from diverse cultures of Africa and Africans in the diaspora. The impact of AMAA is surely felt deeper and wider, and if i must say, AMAA is really getting bigger than Bayelsa State where it is been currently held for some years now. The hospitality standard in Yenagoa is low and Hotels and transportation are too few to accommodate the number of participants which sometimes lead to lodging and logistics crisis. Also, the city itself (or do we still call it a Town), is small, the people love entertainment but too carried away by the array of stars that grace the occasion that they almost mob them in the process of trying to see or touch the actors. May be AMAA should be looking for alternative host city in the future, except there are some necessary ties to the state in the hosting of AMAA. But in general, the AMAA 2013 was a huge success.
