KAREN and WENDELL WIN BIG BROTHER AMPLIFIED

After 91 fun-filled days, the Big Brother Amplified finally comes to an end in grand style today, Sunday 31st July 2011 with KAREN and WENDELL winning the Reality TV show. Many had expected that Luclay would be a winner but they were so disappointed. Equally disappointed were those who felt Wendell would not go this far. According to some comments on facebook, in Africa Entertainment Network group, Luclay was robbed, and Wendell was unduly favoured:

Foluke Omolade Ojelua Wendell doesn't deserve d money. 
  But according to Big Brother, here is how the finalists and winners emerged: "Vina received zero country votes and was evicted first. Hanni, Lomwe and Sharon O received one country vote each and were also evicted, as was Luclay who received 2 country votes. Karen, with six country votes and Wendall with four country votes..."

Taiwo Oduala, the Nigerian Film Director, for Zaffa Awards.

Taiwo Oduala, the multi-talented Nigerian film maker has been nominated for the Best indigenous DIRECTOR : Zaffa Awards in London, UK in October 2011 with the film title OLASUBOMI. The film is also nominated for four other awards, which includes: Best indigenous film, Best producer: Bose Alao Omotoyossi; Best actress: shola Shobowale, & Best actor : Yinka Quadri. We wish him and all other nominees the best of luck.

AMY WINEHOUSE FOUND DEAD:! WHAT CAN WE SAY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HER DEATH?

Addiction,  which the rich and famous entertainers battle with can truly be said to be the  thematic malady for the world today.
The 27 years old Brit and Grammy award winner, Amy Winehouse, had faced this battle over her youthful years, but at last, she was found dead in Camden, at her north London home .

There have been several efforts to rehabilitate her, but she abhors the rehab, which she made so clear even in her song "The Rehab" in which she sang "I don't want to go to rehab".  Eventually, she made it to the rehab. In fact, she just came out of one. The BBC confirms "She had recently finished a course of alcohol rehabilitation in London and at the time was under strict instructions not to drink." But we are beginning to wonder if many who go the rehab come out clean forever. There is a speculation among psychologists that "... overdose deaths are much more likely after individuals leave institutions such as prisons or hospitals because they often return to accustomed levels of consumption of a substance after having lost their tolerance for it." Could it be said that this - the policy of abstinence -  was responsible for Amy's untimely death? What do you think about this?

NUDITY ON THE INCREASE IN BIG BROTHER

Various comments have greeted the increase in the show of nudity, like the one above, in the amplified version of the Big Brother Africa Reality TV show. Many have asked if this is the best way to represent Africa. Others have asked if this was really entertainment.
Anna Cole said: "Exactly,d whole idea of organizing Bb has changed....we Africans copy blindly n its a pity,dis trend of being nude is slowly dominating our movies...."

Our reknown flutist "Tee Mac Iseli also comments: " Big Brother is for those who love to waste their time with a bad, unscripted soap opera" Ayo Ajayi in London said: This is far from entertainment ! But the housemates are obviously oblivious of the views reactions and have continued to show us more of their inner properties. What do we think of this?

NIGERIAN CHORAL GROUP TO PERFORM IN DOHA

A group of Nigerian musicians - BGYS Melodious - will make their Doha debut in an “African Night” show scheduled for June 30 at the Ramada’s Giwana ballroom.
The show, which is the first of its kind in the country and the region, will feature live performance by the group showcasing Nigeria’s popular high life with a touch of the country’s South-Western juju music.
The night will also feature a comedy extravaganza by Doha-based Nigerian stand-up comedians as well as a performance by  Ghanaian cultural dancers.
Speaking to Gulf Times , BGYS director and manager Yemi Emiola said: “Having stayed in Qatar for some years now and being witness to its tremendous growth, I thought of how to be part of the development in the country, hence the formation of the group early this year, in February to be precise.”
According to him, the group, which will launch their debut album packaged in collaboration with a Qatari artiste in December, was conceived to serve as a platform for bringing Africans together in a bid for them to socialise more and get together.
“This BGYS Melodious with the name being an acronym of members’ names - Bosun, Gbenga, Yemi and Segun - was formed to showcase Nigeria’s musical talents and potentials among the Nigerians, as well as other African communities resident in Qatar. Our intention is actually not only to play music for people to relax, but also to convey positive message about Nigeria and try as much as possible to correct erroneous notions about the country among people belonging to various nationalities living in this country,” he said.
Emiola maintained that the African Night show will create more awareness and draw attention to Africans in Qatar as the group has already received a positive nod from Merweb Hotel to do regular performances.
“We have already signed a contract and secured a place with Merweb hotel to perform every Wednesday night from 10pm-1am and we are also holding talks with a number of other top-rated hotels such as the Rotana and La Cigale  in order to collaborate on performing frequent shows at their popular restaurants and joints,” he said.
Apart from hotel gigs, Emiola said that the group was available for performance at  any occasion be it wedding, naming or dedication as well as other community engagements.
In order to carry along with other expatriate communities in Qatar, he stated that the group hoped to perform with a number of Arab musicians from Qatar, Egypt and other African countries.

BIG BROTHER Amplied latest: Bhoke and Ernest Evicted!

The love birds, Bhoke and Ernest, have been  evicted from the BBA Reality Show. There was  silence in the Tails House when their names were mentioned for eviction on Sunday.  For a while Housemates appeared to have been at a loss of words for what had just transpired. Miss P was relieved that she was safe, she could not hide her joy, although no one was ready to listen her. Who would be next?

She has made her name in acting, and she is said to be one of the best of Nollywood actresses. Sometime again, she tried to do the same in the music industry with the release of a musical album (Successfully?). Now we heard her talking about quitting acting for Estate Management. Ghanaian Gov't raises alarm over ''Pornography'' in Ghollywood.

A Deputy Information Minister, Baba Jamal, has criticized the quality and content of movies produced by filmmakers in the country.

Mr. Jamal, who was speaking at a meeting with members of Ghana’s movie industry, expressed doubts about the genuineness of the lessons that were being imparted onto the society.

According to him, Ghanaian movies in recent times have degenerated into a variety of “filthy and unchallenging teaching materials which eventually pollute the minds of the vulnerable.

Mr. Jamal, who appeared to be expressing the sentiments of a section of Ghanaians, condemned what he calls explicit sexual themes in such movies and said they were offensive to the viewing public.
